Welcome

The transition to being a parent is one of the most significant life events that a person can experience. Many parents of a first baby experience uncertainty as they learn how to care for the baby and adjust to this permanent life change. From partners to parents you may discover both loss and gain with the arrival of a new baby.

'Transitions' is a PhD research project conducted by a collaborative group of health professionals who share a passion in supporting those making the transition to parenthood. This current study was designed from previous research evidence and clinical experience. In order to identify the clinical significance of both the programme intervention and telephone-based support intervention, we are looking to recruit volunteers who would like to participate in this clinical research study.

Both interventions illustrate immense benefits not only to the individual, but the community. Results will further enhance midwifery care, support and education across the transition. On a personal level, we aim to assist you in the transition to parenthood, regardless of the therapeutic intervention you are assigned too, by offering you timely, practical and professional advice.

Due to an overwhelming response, we are already taking expressions of interest for February 2011. Please contact Melissa for more information.
